This statement (“Privacy Policy”) explains what we do with student personal data we receive through educational services (“Services”), provided by Alkhalil platform (operated by ETCO), and how students enrolled in a course offered by Alkhalil can exercise their rights therein.

Who we are and how to contact us?

We are the Al-Khalil platform for teaching Arabic, affiliated with the International Emerging Technology Company (ETCO), a company registered with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Sultanate of Oman under [No:1356633], and its chosen address [P.O.Box: 1298, Postal Code: 130, Building Al-Reem House, Floor 4, Muscat . What information we collect about you and why we collect it?

By registering an account in Alkhalil and in turn using our services, we will collect the following information from you (“Personal Data “):

Records of teachers creating virtual classrooms on Alkhalil
Information you add to the children's accounts you create for your children on Alkhalil through the Parents section of the Dashboard page

If you are a parent or guardian creating an account for your child, the following (“Personal Data”) will be collected for the child:

The child's name
Baby's gender (optional)
The child's academic class
The country with the curriculum you want the child's programs to follow

Alkhalil will never share a child's personal data externally, or any link between a child's data and a parent's data.

Legal basis for using your personal data

When using your personal data, we process it on the following bases:

perform a contract to which you as the Data Subject are a party (including in relation to keeping records detailing your learning progress and performance for the purpose of keeping course progress and certifications), And
For the legitimate interest of Alkhalil, the following activities are carried out:
- internal research purposes, for example to improve the design and operation of courses;
- The following research and marketing purposes (unless you decide not to participate at registration or thereafter):
  1. Internal research regarding how to use Alkhalil platform; And
  2. In order to send you updates regarding the online courses offered by Alkhalil;
- Improving the experience of users of Alkhalil platform; And
- Publishing scientific research in journals or conferences. No data that identifies you is shared in a scholarly publication. We only publish aggregated or anonymous data.

We will never collect any unnecessary personal data from you and will not process your information in any way, other than as specified in this Policy.
We do our best to maintain the accuracy and completeness of the personal data that we hold about you, and to ensure that all of your personal data is up to date. However, you can help us with this by contacting us immediately if there are any changes to your personal data. We will not be liable for any losses you incur as a result of any inaccurate, incorrect, incomplete or incomplete personal information you provide to us.

How long we keep your personal data

Your account data will be automatically deleted after 7 years of inactivity. Inactivity is defined as a lack of interaction with the course content. Khalil may shorten the retention period of your personal data according to the amount, nature and sensitivity of your personal data, the potential risks of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes behind the processing of your personal data and whether we can achieve these goals through other means, and applicable legal requirements.

Who do we share your personal data with?

We may from time to time share your personal data with the following parties for the purpose of improving course content and improving marketing operations:

in-house course management team;
internal marketing team; And
Internal leadership team.
Third parties with whom we partner for the purposes of setting up, operating, or evaluating the course (including teachers, teaching assistants, and staff of organizations that partner with Alkhalil for the purpose of a course you are enrolled in), and marketing agencies we partner with for Alkhalil's specific marketing needs. All third parties that receive personal data from Al-Khalil sign a data processing agreement with Al-Khalil that states that your personal data will be used only for the purposes for which Al-Khalil contracted, and that the third party will delete your personal data within 10 days of the termination or completion of the contract.

We may also from time to time share your personal data) in an anonymous form) with external educational researchers for the purpose of conducting educational research.

Security of your personal information

1. We undertake to take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

2. We undertake to store all personal information you provide on our secure servers.

We do not make any automated decisions using this information.

Changes to this policy

Except to the extent required by applicable law, we reserve the right to update this Policy to reflect changes to our information practices by clearly posting a notice of the update on our Services, and obtaining your consent, as applicable.
Any updates will become effective immediately upon posting of updates to this Policy and apply to all information collected about you, or where applicable, based on your consent.
You agree to review this policy periodically. If we make any changes to this policy, we will change the " last updated " date above.

Your rights and how to exercise them

With some exceptions, you are entitled to a copy of the personal data we hold about you. We may charge a reasonable fee for additional copies of such data after the first copy, based on our administrative costs. Where the data is data that you have provided to us, you have the right to receive your copy of it in a common electronic format, and to provide copies of it to other people if you wish to do so.

You have the right to correct the personal data we hold about you if it is in fact inaccurate.
In some circumstances, you have the right to erase the personal data we hold about you (the “right to be forgotten”. This right is not generally available as we still have a valid legal reason to keep the data (for example, if we are required to do so by law).

You also have the right in some circumstances to request temporary restrictions on how we process your personal data, for example, if we are processing it on the basis of our legitimate interest, and you challenge our assessment that our interest is not overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms.
If we process your personal data on the basis of your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time, in which case we will stop processing unless we have another legal basis to proceed. In some cases, Khalil's only way to stop such processing will be to terminate your accounts. Alkhalil will ask for your confirmation before terminating your account through the email address you are requesting to withdraw your consent. If you do not provide written confirmation within 21 days until Alkhalil terminates your account, your request to withdraw your consent will be considered void.

In order to protect you and others, we may ask you to verify your identity before exercising these rights.

If you are not satisfied with how we treat your personal data, you have the right to contact us to request a solution or to file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
